This is an issue for the Blu-Ray camp, because the less expensive the hardware is then the more adoption that takes place. HD DVD is obviously getting to the right price points before Blu-Ray, so this will prolong the "war" even more. The PS3 is undoubtedly driving the Blu-Ray sales at this point, but that won't necessarily help push mass market adoption until the pricing for either the PS3 or stand alone BR players can become more affordable.

For me a game needs a little more depth to be a 9 or higher. There's no doubt that they've built a brilliant online game, but lack of maps and modes doesn't really help them catapult to AAA status. That being said, I think the reviews around 8.5 do the game justice and that's where my review would come in at too. Good game, with moments of greatness...but not all together Great.

....and Bioshock. Not a bad line up of games at all.

I'm already all over that. I have three days off work, so I can bust out the campaign and get to at least Sergeant level on the multiplayer.

I know what it's like to be a PS3 only fan now, cause I'm getting sick of the waiting.

I don't care what console or game the article favors...the figures on Amazon change so frequently and rapidly that they can't accurately gauge anything except "Nasims" desperation to have an impact on this site.

This is just promo short for Halo 3, hence the focus on the Brutes. It's nothing more than that, and obviously a movie gets a little more attention than a low budget, 90 second short film. Don't pretend to be the biggest Halo fan when you have no idea what this short film was for or about.

It's pretty much a big disappointment for such a legendary developer to be doing what they are now. I've played Viva Pinata and enjoyed it, same with Conker, but PDZ for the 360 was a disappointment and really made me wonder what happened to RARE. The more I think about it though, Goldeneye and PDZ were premier for their time, but now you have shooters like Halo and Unreal Tournament/Championship, which have reset the "bar".

@ MK

I agree that DOOM series was important to the FPS genre, but those games were still in the "introduction" phase of FPS's. Goldeneye took the FPS genre to the next level with solid controls, great weapon and map selection, as well as classic characters and character models to play with. UT is also great, but they just built upon what previous FPS had already established.

We can always agree to disagree.

One thing horribly wrong with this article (and would be the case if it was for the PS3 or Wii too) is that everything is assumed to be planned to happen in order to set a precedent, and the overall tone of the article dismisses any credibility in my eye. Still worth commenting on.

Obviously MS didn't want faulty system hardware or to later apologize for that by extending everyone's warranty. So, when you say "set a precedent" for these specific issues, it implies tha...

...extras are supposed to be one of the main features of Blu-Ray and HD DVD, and how they can interact with the feature presentation. Also, when I'm spending $30 per movie, a little extra helps justify that expenditure.

You see, you can have the best graphics, sound, and whatever else in a game, but that doesn't make a game great.

I have to give Nintendo mad props, cause that system has taught us that in the end it's not about graphics, or sound, or HD...it's about gameplay and fun factor (at least for the majority of consumers). Nintendo has gone back to the core of gaming, and has reintroduced what made video games fun in the first place. Don't get me wrong, I love advanced tech games like G...

There seem to be a lot of different factors for these reviews; controls, frame rates, graphics, story, style, and personal preference. It seems like any one of these factors can seriously distort the reviews to be either positive or negative. In the case of Lair, I think it has a lot to do with the SIXAXIS controls and people not being used to them or not wanting to use them. Therefore, their personal preference may really effect the review, which I guess is what a review is anyway.

I never understood why more online centric games didn't copy Halo 2's matchmaking/ranking system in their games (i.e. CoD and Gears). I only hope that this means that more developers will take a serious look at how Bungie works their magic with the level of user interaction and macthmaking set up. As far as I'm concerned, this should be standard for all XBOX Live games, and at the very least all MS first party games.

Edit: We have seen games like Forza and PGR integrate some o...
